About Tacofest

In 2017, founder of Tacofest, Marcelo Bayon noticed a gap in the local market. While other communities held yearly festivals dedicated to the taco, Salt Lake did not. Although certainly not a new idea, Tacofest was something new and exciting for the Salk Lake community.

Since inception, the event has featured delectable cuisine and food from a wide range of local chefs, with a focus on culture, great food, inclusion and charity. The event has supported such organizations as Meals on Wheels of America, for which they have raised $11,500 to date, positively impacting the lives of thousands of Meals on Wheels recipients.

This year’s selected charity being The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake. When asked about the idea Bayon said, “I wanted to be part of the solution and just thought ‘tacos and charity, what’s better than that?”

Bayon has also established a course on how to launch a 7-figure food truck to help those aspiring chefs and entrepreneurs start and grow their own highly successful food truck.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake

Salt Lake’s very own Boys and Girls Clubs has helped thousands of children ages 3-18 succeed in school, in making healthy choices and life decisions and in becoming upstanding productive members of society. They provide access to trained professionals who are available to provide positive guidance on lifestyle choices and pursuing educational objectives, as well as equipping them with healthy coping mechanisms and skills to resolve conflicts peacefully.

The Boys and Girls Clubs serve over 7,000 American youths annually, with over 1,400 children attending each and every day. The organization currently has 7 locations in and around Salt Lake in both Tooele and Carbon County.

Fun Facts from Last Year:

  • 51 Club kids graduated, many of them the first in their family to do so
  • Over 100,000 healthy snacks were served

The Salt Lake Club is dedicated to helping to offer and make available positive alternatives for children who are often surrounded by negative influences. Since 1860, Boys and Girls Clubs has offered a safe haven and refuge for youth
