Who are funeral directors and what do they do?

Funeral directors are in charge of all the logistics following a death. They complete all necessary paperwork for families, make arrangements for the transportation of the body, and do any other actions related to the funeral service and burial of the deceased. Does the deceased have to be embalmed in Louisiana?

There is no legal requirement, or Louisiana law, stipulating that families have to have the deceased embalmed.  However, either embalming or refrigeration is required if the disposition does not proceed within 30 hours.
