A Lubbock teenager is being held in juvenile detention on a murder charge following the shooting death of his father.

According to the crime report, the 16-year-old boy shot both of his parents at their home in the 4700 block of 43rd, between Salem and Utica.

Investigators reported the parents were engaged in a violent domestic disturbance. The boy told investigators he was scared for his mother’s safety, so he shot at his father, Timothy Brian Lester, 38.

Lester died at the scene.

Investigators said the mother, Jennifer Lester, 38, was inadvertently wounded. Her injuries are not life threatening and her condition has been upgraded to fair.
