Source of Health is pleased to announce that Anna Wolyn, MD has joined their team of naturopathic physicians. The natural medical center looks forward to working with Dr. Wolyn to promote health and wellness in the local community.
Dr. Wolyn is a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner through The Institute for Functional Medicine, a global leader in functional medicine training and education. A native of Poland, she graduated from the Bialystok Medical Academy, then completed her residency at the William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan and was certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1996. Dr. Wolyn received training in the DAN! Protocol, an alternative approach to treating people with autism, and in the LIVING YOUNGER anti-aging system.
Dr. Wolyn follows the functional medicine approach and applies integrative and conventional treatments to her patients’ cases. According to the Institute for Functional Medicine, “Functional Medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual.”
As a physician dedicated to her patients and their holistic wellness, Dr. Wolyn embraces an interactive partnership between the physician and the patient. Throughout her career in Family Medicine, she has found that all patients are unique in their genetic makeup and physiology, so they need a diagnosis and treatment approach tailored to the individual. Understanding this uniqueness, Dr. Wolyn seeks to assess all aspects of lifestyle, genetics, environment, emotions, beliefs, and social relationships as these factors influence health and disease.
Individualized care is especially important when considering the medical needs of children. Over one in four American children suffer from chronic illnesses that affect their normal activities and lives. A trained pediatric physician, Dr. Wolyn believes that the medical community must especially focus on the pediatric population as more and more children struggle with mental disorders, obesity, immune disorders, chronic diseases, and allergies. She addresses complex chronic diseases by looking for the underlying root cause of the problem so that she can help prevent and treat the illness.
