The National Coalition for the Homeless remembering those less-fortunate who have died this year.
The Community Health Center of Lubbock reports there are more than 3,000 homeless people living in the city and the Salvation Army warns that lower temperatures will make it dangerous for those without a reliable, warm place to stay.
“We like to let everybody know that everybody is important and everybody needs a warm place to stay so that is the meaning of this vigil,” said Social Services Director Diane Taylor.
Taylor said heavy socks and beanies are most needed.
