Corporal Dustin Wayne Hatley arrested on misdemeanor charges of prostitution and official oppression.
Lubbock Police Department Corporal Dustin Wayne Hatley, 36, arrested on misdemeanor charges of prostitution and official oppression.
While investigating a separate crime detectives report they got a tip that Hatley was engaging in criminal activity while he was off duty.
According to the warrants, he’s accused of paying a woman for sex.
Hatley was also accused of sexually harassing a friend of that woman while “acting under color of his office or employment as a public servant, namely, a peace officer.”
The friend told investigators she recognized Hatley as an officer because she had been arrested before and challenged him.
Hatley reportedly then showed the woman that she had outstanding criminal warrants listed on his city-issued laptop computer but he did not arrest her.
Investigators say she told them she felt obligated to continue a sexual relationship with Hatley based on his status as an officer and his criminal acts.
Hatley was arrested last night getting off a plane at the airport.
He’s free after posting $5,000 bond and is on administrative leave.
Hatley has served eight years with Lubbock police, assigned to the investigations unit.
