Pairs will take an amazing race through the trails of Allen in order to challenge their mental and physical sides, and participate in fun activities along the way

For almost two decades audiences have been captivated by the competition on The Amazing Race. Viewers still watch as teams of two set out to overcome obstacles and challenges, even learning a little about themselves and their partner along the way. On October 13, 2018, teams of two can participate in their own version of The Amazing Race as we celebrate the Village of Allen’s 10 year anniversary.

Participants need to be at least 18 years old and each team is made up of only two people. Because the race is based on the popular television show, there will be a wide range of activities in which pairs participate. “The amount of time you spend at the race will depend on your team and how quickly you solve the clues,” said Rhonda Ptak, a representative for the race. So what can teams expect from this Adventure race?

Some of the activities will test their physical capabilities including things like running and rock climbing. The mind will get a little bit of a workout too as pairs try to decode clues, complete puzzles, and even answer trivia questions involving pop culture or local history. It’s important to strategize as there is a prize at the end of the finish line. The first place team will take home $250, second place $125, and third place $62.50.

Along with mental and physical dexterity, participants need to have a sense of humor. Some of the activities are downright silly. Anyone up for singing loudly in public or besting other pairs in an eating contest? The entire race will lead teams around the Village of Allen and the finish line is located back at Kelly’s in the Village. Like many of the other Allen chamber events, the goal is to ensure that everyone has have a great time.

Early registration is currently open and the discounted price of $99 is available until September 13, 2018. After that, the cost goes up to $125. Registration closes on October 11 at 2:00 pm and participants can pick up their race packets on October 12, from 11 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm.
