Bonita Springs, United States – July 30, 2019 / EnviroKlenz /
EnviroKlenz®, the developers of a revolutionary, non-invasive, odor elimination process that can rapidly restore an odor-compromised property, has announced today their successful implementation into the cannabis odor control industry. The EnviroKlenz odor elimination products have undergone extensive testing on its effectiveness against the broad scope of contaminants, both odorous and hazardous, produced from cannabis grow and production facilities into the air of surrounding environments. The study was conducted by Timilons’ Lead Scientist & Research Specialist, Brandon Walker, who analyzed the EnviroKlenz patented technology against ‘terpenes’ and other ‘volatile organic compounds (VOCs)’ that are emitted from cannabis plants.
The results concluded that the chemically reactive compounds of cannabis plants and smoke, like some of the acids, phenols, nitrogen compounds, and cannabinoids, found in this plant crop are broken down by the EnviroKlenz technology.
The EnviroKlenz Mobile Air System and Air Cartridges have been used to successfully reduce and contain odors from the storage of the cannabis compound in law enforcement centers (i.e. drug safes), assist in cleanup of contaminated properties, and lower the concentration of cigarette smoke in properties with active smokers.
EnviroKlenz Vice President of Customer Relations & Operations, George Negron remarked on the successful cannabis odor removal, “We are elated to announce the effective, and favorable interaction between the EnviroKlenz technology and the removal of cannabis odors from indoor environments. This advancement for the cannabis industry will help the manufacturers within this industry uphold the strict odor control regulations inside their operations and improve overall indoor air quality for their workforce.”
The cultivation and processing of cannabis plants will result in the emission of a potentially large volume of contaminants into the air that can significantly taint the air quality in the cannabis grow facilities, along with the surrounding areas of this cultivation site. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are released from cannabis plants growing inside of these cultivation sites (such as terpenes) will steadily emit these hazardous airborne pollutants into the air. This will result in noncompliance with air quality and odor regulations set in place by each state for cannabis odor control. In addition, the presence of high levels of VOCs will interact with nitrogen oxides in the indoor environment – produced from cars and other manufacturing sources – in sunlight-driven reactions will create ground-level ozone, a harmful pollutant to human health.
Traditionally, the solution for odor control within the cannabis industry has been the use of carbon-based filters, a solution that is both outdated and ineffective at successfully removing the large quantities of terpenes released from cannabis cultivation facilities. However, to comply with the cannabis odor and air quality regulations set in place for industry manufacturers, they will need to adopt a new solution for indoor air quality and odor control, like the revolutionary patented EnviroKlenz technology for indoor air quality control – that is safe and effective at cannabis chemical and odor elimination.
Timilon’s testing involved chemical reactivity, odor headspace testing, and practical evaluations against its proprietary technology. The interaction between the EnviroKlenz metal oxide materials were evaluated against terpenes/terpenoids such as ocimene, nerol, and 6-caryophyllene, along with other chemistries to look at destructive mechanism capabilities. Individual metal oxides showed high-level breakdown and in combination media. The materials were further analyzed at air removal capabilities independently and in combinations to achieve a headspace percent reduction in excess of 98%.
The results coupled with practical evaluations show that the EnviroKlenz cartridge is highly effective against the odor removal of terpene/terpenoids and then capable of chemical destruction of the target compounds.
About EnviroKlenz®.
EnviroKlenz® is an environmentally friendly odor restoration process that is available to consumers and manufacturers across all industries. When a property has an acute odor issue caused by fire, water, trauma, or other nuisance odor or chemicals, EnviroKlenz® can be immediately deployed to begin restoring the environment. The EnviroKlenz process is a scientifically and field proven choice for the safe, rapid, convenient, and cost-effective restoration of indoor spaces from fragrances and other toxic vapors.
The EnviroKlenz® core chemistry (the “Product”) irreversibly captures and neutralizes a broad range of indoor air pollutants. EnviroKlenz® works by ‘adsorptive neutralization.’ As EnviroKlenz® comes in contact with chemical pollutants in circulating air or on surfaces of materials, the Product’s chemistry 1) irreversibly attaches to and reacts with the pollutants, and 2) breaks down the pollutant. The result is a safer byproduct and elimination of the unpleasant and potentially dangerous pollutant(s).
